I'm quite interested in seeing these as they/when they come to completion (to name some):

Brent Hisey's P-51C "Patty Ann III" (possible/mentioned scheme choice)

Mark Henley's P-51D "Alabama Rammer Jammer"
Paul Besterveld's P-51D "This Is It" (don't know if it has flown yet)

(A few interesting projects in P-51D's 44-63762, 44-72028, and 44-72395 at Tri-State Aviation)

Wes Stricker's combat vet P-51D has been undergoing recent restoration work to bring it back closer to original WWII configuration and original paint scheme, and Peter Teichman's P-51D "Jumpin Jacques" underwent a cockpit restoration over this past winter/spring to return the cockpit back to stock WWII condition/configuration. Jack Croul's second P-51D has been flying this summer, following the completion of its restoraion.

Mark's P-51K 44-12118 is still in the parts gathering stage, but Mark and the Crew at AirCorps Aviation are rebuilding Combat Vet 44-63675 and it is going to be a stunner...

I knew I was forgetting a very obvious one! I've been very excited about that project, in large part because of those involved with it. Thank you too for the clarification on Mark's K-model - I have to admit that I didn't have a clue about the details of Mark's project, but thought I'd include it.

Would also love to know the current status of the "Da Quake" project (actually not "Da Quake", but 44-13663) in the UK. Also, "Frenesi" has seemed to be off the main radar for a while now, and it will be great to see that one back in the air again too.

I recall other people saying there is also a few Mustang restorations happening in Australia southern states according to what ive been told.. I it is think 2 or 3 airframes?

I have heard a few times from a few reliable sources besides the Mustang mentioned by others, there is a few interesting and rare warbird plans been worked on to bring or build in Australia in future but i am like other followers having to sit back, watch and and wait on these projects and see if they do develop meanwhile.

In my opinion one project i am been told about is a very very very bold plan due to a number of factors invovled but the warbird would be very suitable for Australian skies.

So here is hoping and keep watching on all things warbird.

Good - I've always hoped we'd see a P-43 in the air again. (Or a Vultee Vengeance.)

"This is it" has been sold...there is another at the Green Swamp that I know nothing about. I was at Teeters place last summer and there were 4 fuselages nearing completion, and Kermits A-model is a l o n g way off. Mark Henley's airplane is or should be test run real soon.

Note that this thread is more than a year old now, and brought back to the spotlight thanks to the spammer above Jim's last post.

Having re-read my post from back in August 2012, John Turgyan's P-51D "Passion Wagon" of course ended up becoming Jon Vesley's "Was That Too Fast" (this past summer's Oshkosh Post-WWII Grand Champion), and the restoration work on "This Is It" was completed and as Jim has mentioned that aircraft now has a new owner and is based in Texas. "Frenesi", if I recall corectly, is now in the queue for completion at Midwest Aero, along with the repair/restoration of the former "Glamorous Gal".

Airmotive Specialties (Dave Teeter's place) has a TF-51D and a P-51D very near completion. The P-51D project, N6168C (previously finished as FF-704), is being painted in the markings of Chuck Weaver's 357th FG mount, on polished bare metal.

Really excited about the prospect of seeing Aircorps Aviation's combat-vet "Sierra Sue II" (owned by Paul Ehlen) completed this year (the closest thing to an absolute authentic warbird restoration I have seen).

Aircorps is also beginning work on a P-51C for Texas Flying Legends Museum.
