As August posted, they were pretty regular at shows, flying, in the UK and US in the eighties and nineties. So for those of us old enough to vote and drink and understand that stuff, as well as remember punk rock, plenty of viewers of flights. I don't recall exactly, but certainly saw SR-71s three or more times flying.

Had several U2s at Mildenhall, also in the 1980s and saw one fly at least once in that era.

Drones? Waste of good airspace, or flightline static.

I've seen drones and helicopter drones on static, but not flying and believe they were trucked in and assembled. Not really interested in watching a large remote control airplane at an airshow. I would rather see a large remote control plane that is based off of a real plane like that guy in England that has that large remote control RAF C-17

Can't win 'em all. I volunteer with a chap who flew on Concorde, but we don't talk about it... :axe:

I think the late eighties and early nineties in the UK saw (in hindsight) one of the big 'bulges' in aircraft diversity, and the arrival at shows of eastern European types to the west (like the MiG 29 at Farnborough, 'Frogfoot' at Boscombe Down) plus the remaining US presence before the peace dividend kicked in was great - we just thought there was a lot of cool modern aircraft around...

And they weren't all Fffffff grey. :vom:
