I thought I read someone saying it was performing. I don't have facebook. I will be happy to see it on approach Friday on Ecorse Rd. I don't have to see it perform as I have seen Super Hornets a lot - but sure I guess it would be nice also. I am hoping its one of the CONA paint schemes.

Remember 2008 the hornet kept breaking down? At least on the Friday practice and the Saturday show it went up for about 5 min then had to land. I was hoping to see a heritage with the T-2 Buckeye but both days I was there I didn't.

Is the Super Hornet performing too? I see nothing about it on the website.

AS was mentioned in the posts above and as announced on the Thunder Over Michigan Facebook page, the Super Hornet is coming for STATIC display only.

I see nothing about it on the WEBSITE either.
Believe it or not, there are SOME of us who don't do Facebook!

I am, in fact, A big Super Hornet fan. They're a fantastic a/c. I just wouldn't go around the corner to watch one fly. I'll take the smell of 140 octane over kerosene anyday.

(That don't sound right, do it? )

The static Super Hornet from NAS Oceana is from VFA-213 the "Blacklions".

Cheers,

Tom Walsh.

I didn't see any unique paint schemes from the black lions other than 166663, which was somewhat modified. All have a small black lion on the tail, but 166663 had the lion outlined in gold and have gold and black near the engine intakes.

Ah, the words of a wise person!! Thanks, Mudge
The only jet I care to see fly at a warbird air show is any F-86 or whatever aircraft provides the "new" for a Heritage Flight. Yes, I am jaded, so get out your :rip: and waste some more ammo :D

I WILL go around the corner to watch an F-86 fly. They were the a/c we scrambled when I was in "This Here Now Air Force". ('55-'59)
Can't begin to tell you how many TWA, Western, Frontier, United, etc, a/c we ran intercepts on in the Albuquerque ADIZ. Actually ran a few intercepts on Venus at certain times of the year.

I'll go for about anything vintage or modern as long as it is military - if it is civilian, it has to be classic (ie like a Constellation or that DC-7 that came a couple years back).

No Pitts or Extra 300s or whatever other aerobatic trick planes there are. Not into psuedo warbirds either like Navions painted like a warbird or L-39s painted like an American fighter jet, or a rediculous amount of L birds.

Too add to the realism of the ground battle they have included a wrecked Beech (18?), see their FB page. More planes arrived today B-25 Georgie's Gal, P-51C Tuskegee Airmen, and another D model Mustang. I'm ready for the weekend.

This will be my first time missing Thunder since 2001. It's going to be weird not being there. Hoping for a safe and fun weekend for everyone who attends!
