Probably a typo in there somewhere, but that's the basics.

Nose wash flattened and one side's prop was feathered. Must not have been worth hauling a work crew and parts out into the middle of nowhere to fix.

Force landed in 1947 due to overloading (33 pax + two crew) and engine failure. 28 eventually rescued

I think it's funny how the author in the one link in the OP's post says it's in excellent condition and he hopes a Russian museum will recover it and make it airworthy. Um, hate to tell you this pal, but it's been somewhat stripped and vandalized. And airworthy C47/DC3 aircraft are not that expensive to purchase and there are still lots of them out there. So I don't think you'll see anyone trying to make that one flyable anytime soon let alone trying to recover it.

A fascinating find to be sure, but there have been C-47s in better shape that have been scrapped in recent years, at airports right here in the States. Certainly us vintage airplane s would love to see her recovered and restored, but I don't think that's being realistic. One thing that does make this one a bit more interesting than countless other derelict Gooney Birds is that it looks to have once been equipped with an upper turret.
