Neat! Don't everyone get all sweaty about this unless you live IN the GWN. Recall that Ice Pilots was on Canadian HISTORY CHANNEL, then came to NAT GEO for about 1 1/2 seasons and now is reduced to 2 30 min repeated repeats that are repeated endlessly on The Weather Channel. I'm sort of fortunate that my cable system carries CBC out of YCVR.

Is Dan Snow the same guy who did the series "Great Battles of the 20th Century" with his father? It was the typical, well done, BBC production.

Caught it last night when they were digging up the Spitfire from the Irish peat bog. Rolls Royce folks would be surprised to find that this particular Spit had a 5,000 hp Merlin according to the people who produced the show.

Cheers,

Jeff :spit

The episode the other night dealt with the excavation of a Mk. XII Spitfire that had crashed in France in 1944. Incredible how deep it was buried and how compressed the airframe was. The Griffon was damaged in a way that could only be attributed to enemy fire. Very interesting episode.
