This Stearman is freshly repaired and painted from a ground hickey.
It was just TOO beautiful not to take some pictures of and post 'em.
The work was done by Aircorr Services LLC. at Dry Creek Airport, Cypress, TX. where these pictures were taken today. April 19th.
Bob Henderson of Aircorr gave us leave to take pictures and post them here for your enjoyment.
He made a point of telling me it was NOT a total restoration, but that it was a total respray and repair.
The airplane is ready for its return to service check-flight and that will be done any day, minute, hour...
If I were the owner I would be clawing my way to the airport as TODAY is a gift in regards to wind, weather and asundry flying conditions.

Hey there Jefferson- Actually the same Gentleman- Bob Henderson found the CAF-WHS N3N-3 was all kinds of "out of rig" and has put the miracle whip on it.
It should be flying at the Open House this weekend and I hope to get a flight.

I have been busy flying my own termite magnets (PT-26 and Aeronca Champ) and when the N3N-3 went down for its own ground hicky I forgot I am still a Sponsor Pilot. SILLY ME!

All THAT being said- I LOVE good work on whatever plane I am looking at. It just makes me ALL tingly inside. Gotta go take a cold shower.

Keep 'em Flying SAFELY,
SPANNER

Steve,

Yes, that's the Stearman that I've been involved with for the last two years, among other aircraft (including the CAF N3N). More pix at http://aircorrservicesllc.com/page3.php?view=thumbnailList&category=9

Don, I was the guy working on the 195 during your visit. I didn't realize that Don = Spanner or I would've spoken up. Was elbow deep at the time.

Ok, after many logistical delays, the first flight was finally conducted today. That gave me what I needed to finish the restoration video:

Spanner,

The problem was actually the availability of the pilots. Their schedules just would not cooperate. Everything finally aligned this week. We just have some very minor tweaking now. If you noticed, there was quite a bit of smoke at the start (for a Stearman - not by B-17 standards). That was because it had been so long since it had run. This one normally doesn't do that. It had turned through fine, but we probably should have pulled a couple of plugs anyway. Made a pretty good mess, too.

N3NJeff - Yea, but this one has a Lyc up front. :? It took me a long time to come up with that song. I was thrilled when I found it.
