That really makes me wonder how many 109's are still in russia

I wouldn't get too excited. What's come out of Russia has, so far, been previously unknown wrecks, or are the aircraft that have been known in places like Monino and on display. Caches of 'secretly kept aircraft' have remained rumours, and I think likely to remain unfounded.

That display is almost certainly this one, we've discussed here before: http://vintageaeroplanewriter.blogspot. ... c-war.html

Got this from Tom Doll:

Yes, that is old NAS St. Louis in the photo Dan sent to me. I
shot my first airplane photo there in May 1947. I would say the photo
of the FG-1's, SB2C's and the old PBY-5A in WW II USN Tricolor paint
was most likely taken in about 1949 or early-1950. I really like that
shot and am glad to have a copy of it.

It was my privilege to have been at the 1948 St. Louis Air Fair
and see Major Marion Carl perform with his flight team in FH-1's.
Later we became friends and he wrote a foreword to my FLYING
LEATHERNECKS IN WORLD WAR TWO book in 1971.

At the Fair I got to go into a B-29 and found that very
interesting. Also got an autographed book from Captain Eddie
Richenbacher and his business card, he was then President of Eastern
Air Lines as you probably already know.

Glad to chat with you and any friend of Dan's is a friend of mine.

Take care...

Tom Doll

Could this be the old Hayes Aircraft at Birmingham A/P in Alabama. Now it is PEMCO I think or something else who knows.
