Well, it was the Germans that 'invented' the sharkmouth motif in W.W.II, copied by 112 Sqn and later some bunch of mercenaries whose organisation escapes me... Of course there were also Great War types with that motif.

More 'sharks', no AVG, here: http://vintageaeroplanewriter.blogspot. ... bites.html

There's a huge range of German artwork, but it followed very different themes and approaches than American art, as did each nation.

Interestingly however, it was probably (after the Americans) the Germans and the Italians that used Disney characters more than any other nation. Galland's 'logo' was a Mickey Mouse.

The He 115 art isn't 'nose' art and looks rather unofficial, and as Gary says, makes it very interesting.

Regards,

Thanks so much for the pictures!
I love it when a plan comes together. The museum seems to have really prepared and are doing things right and not wasting anytime.

A terrific set of photos has been posted on Flickr. It's interesting that they're running water sprinklers on her pending the filling of the fresh water tank. A big thumbs up for the folks in Norway!

What a fantastic set of photos! Those really show just how remarkably preserved the aircraft is. That is an amazing recovery and even better, it looks as if the group that recovered it knows what they're doing.

According to the information included with the flickr pictures, the museum already has a set of floats to go with plane. The recovered aircraft lacked one of the two engines, but the museum already has another. Sounds like everything has been planned out VERY well.

This plane seems to be in amazingly good condition, regarding the circumstances and in comparison to other planes / wrecks lifted from the sea. The people of the museum have planned it very well, nothing left to chance. Big thumbs up for their project. Professional recovery as well. Thanks for the pics, very good coverage.

James, are you sure that Bf110 wasn't flown by mercenaries of a certain neutral country before they got a better pay offer to join the Chinese Air Force? :axe:
