As for the C-46, I thought she had been grounded due to rising costs and lack of demand at airshows, rather than any technical issues. Great to see her out and about again.

She was, while with the CAF. But it seems Mr. Russell (who has a great operation down there in Monroe and I only hope they expand) have found the niche for a small museum to operate a hog like the C-46. I've always had a soft spot for that bird and would have liked to have purchased it when it was up for sale (like I ever had the actual money for it).

BUT I do think (CAF wise anyway) that the second C-46 can still be affectively utilized. What if the B-24/B-29 squadron was "split" during the majority of the airshow season with each bomber having its own support cargo aircraft?

B-24 "Diamond Lil"
C-47 "Blue Bonnet Belle"

B-29 "Fifi"
C-46 "China Doll"

Both cargo aircraft would not only be painted appropriately for their respective bomber but would also allow the public to see two different aircraft uzed in the same theaters, side by side. I dunno idle thought.

Great Pics guys!  Love the show.

They set this show up as a great one to fly in.  Greg Witmer does a fantastic job as airboss, and makes it easy for us to fly in it!  The crowds really get in to it as well, so this show is definitely set apart.

Here's some pics I took with my phone, so obviously it doesn't stack up with your guys' pics, but wanted to share anyway!

Tailwinds,

Trey Carroll

p.s. if anyone has some more pics of the T-6's and any of the T-6 Pamela Marie, if you could post them here, I'm putting a video together for the weekend and would love to include your pics if you don't mind!

The T-6 I was fortunate enough to fly for the weekend...

Tom Duffy's P-51 Repaint to "Kwitcherbitchin" gets my vote for best name on a Mustang!  It's nice to see a different paint job out there, nothing like it!

Saturday evening on our way to a missing man flyover for a B-26 Marauder pilot in NJ taken while enroute cross country.

Cruisin' along...

Sunday, right before the show began, I bugged out of there to avoid hail.  I circled around for awhile and waited for the nasty weather to blow through (Reading Airport is smack-dab in the middle of that dark area)...

Onboard weather confirmed that it indeed suck at RDG, keep loitering!

The airport is in there somewhere!

Taking the airport back home, I had to fight the weather again!  I played it safe and flew around and waited for the weather to pass instead of trying to race the WX.  Much more fun when we went up and looked at the clouds and rainbows!

Hey guys,

Here's another video I put together after flying in the airshow out in Penn. Was number 5 in a 6 ship of T-6's. Used video and pictures from both days of the airshow for the video.

Hope you enjoy, once you press the "play" button, pause it, let the video load awhile, then resume.

So close! And yet so far! Glad to finally see a 506th Mustang, but kinda wish he'd gotten it all the way right.

Yes I know it's his bird to paint as he chooses, and yes "Kwitcherbitchen had stripes at one time. But not at the time it had flown all those VLRs missions marked below the canopy.

With the striped tail. Probably before they got to Iwo or just after. No mission markings as of that time.

Note on the other photos posted of the restored 51, the mission markings identical to this image with the solid green tail
