I can't say that it is 100% accurate but my listing here:

http://www.aerovintage.com/ac_tallmantz.htm

shows Tallman's Sopwith Camel was N6254 and was sold to Rosen-Novak in 1966 and then sold at the May 1968 auction for $40,000 and is in Arkansas. It also shows several replicas and possibly some additional information on some of these aircraft. I haven't paid near enough attention to continuing to document some of the old Tallmantz aircraft.

That was the original Camel that Tallman owned for many years. The one in TGWP was built specially for the movie, and Tony Bianchi told me once that it has stamped aluminum ribs, I guess as a way to build it more quickly.

I've tried to find an N-number for the Triplane, and I think it's N5523V, serial number DB1 according to the FAA registry (edit: and Scott's list above), http://registry.faa.gov/aircraftinquiry ... &x=21&y=12 . James, any chance that that shows up in the records for VH-ALU? 'ALU seems to have a different s/n, 1864/DR, but there are photos that show '5523V looking very similar to 'ALU (although a number of Triplane replicas have been painted in that scheme over the years).

'5523V at Tallmantz:

'ALU at RAAF Laverton:

And "Lola" on the set:

It looks like the lettering on the rear fuselage reads: Fok Dr-I 55/23V

Thanks Scott!

Andrew, I think I've seen some of the fabric from -ALU on a wall, but I'm not sure. Unfortunately I was at the RAAF Museum yesterday, and won't be back until later in June. However I'll ask a couple of people, who may know, if they can confirm any of the suppositions.

Now for the important question. Have there now been more replica Fokker Triplanes than there were ever real ones? :axe:

Regards,
