Questions...

1: One seat for the USAF personnel...second seat for lunch table...who/what are the other three chairs for? FPL for when the crowd charges the drone? (FPL is Final Protective Line by the way)

2: Where is Terminators commo? His watch? I expect he will stroke out in 90 minutes without a hat! The airshow ramp pass--the ABSOLUTE badge of authority.

3: Weapon looks like a Crossman M-4 117 air gun.

4: Who is providing port side security?

5: Weapons sleeve securely stowed next to starboard gear?

6: What are his rules of engagement? Collateral damage would be incredible...223 at 20 feet is going to pass through a lot of stuff before it stops.

Also reminds me of the first F-117 I saw at an airshow at NAS Atlanta in 1989. They had just come out of the closet, and on Saturday and Sunday it was on the ramp surrounded by a phalanx of Marines armed to the teeth, to keep the great unwashed from messing with it. On Monday, there was a photo op with a Stearman, and no Marines. You could walk right up to it - no problem.

I still don't understand why the dude carrying a gun looks like some government contractor in a polo shirt while the airman in uniform sits on her ass in the shade. Is that a AF thing?

Our tax dollars at work.

Personally, I think MPs with holstered pistols would be more than enough security for any aircraft worthy of display. You can hide guys with long rifles in a tent or truck nearby if you're really that concerned about a high powered threat. Having a guy in civvies with an AR sends the message that real law enforcement/paramilitary power in the country is going to private contractors with little, if any, legal restraint or Constitutional obligation.

What I really want to know is: to whom should we direct our complaints?

It's the socially acceptable method of pulling down your zipper and airing your differences at the crowd. Again, as others have said previously in '89 an F-117 showed up @ KPAE for Air Fair and NO ONE was permitted to walk behind it 'all very hush-hush don't you know' and Mc Chord must have sent every APE with the weekend off to stand around it looking all solemn and protective. Two weeks later @ Abottsford they had another one on display, not a soul around it and free acess to all sides of the aircraft including the 'ultra secret' exhausts. There was a huge Russian contingent there what with all the stuff they had on the ramp (ever seen an Il-76 in AEROFLOT civilian markings packin' 2 X20MM tail guns?)and they just loved shooting about 14 miles of 35mm film between it and an SR you could walk up to and touch the pitot probe on the nose, I really enjoyed walking all around and under and talking with the guys there from Mig while looking at and taking lots of photos of their brand new (to us) Mig-31 (if you dig tailpipe noise, do they have an airplane for you).
It's all smoke and mirrors and big red, important looking ribbons, just like TSA.

PPPPPPTTTTTTHHHHTTTT! :bs:

Ah, I guess that is why they call it the 'Chair Force'

I forgot that in the Navy, we do things the hard way as a matter of policy.

The "guard" might be more than a bit scary to the uninitiated public. Why not have 3 or 4 uniformed soldiers standing guard? Not only would the job get done, but the public likes soldiers (as well they should) and would probably think it was A-ok. This CIA-looking guy would probably creep most people out.

I too, don't think it is necessary.

But, as someone else pointed out; is that a real firearm?

It doesn't have the rail system of an M4. It does have a forward assist. But what is that protrusion near the ejection port?

And why is the ejection port open? Also it looks like there is a horizontal line in the middle of the bolt which doesn't track at all. Is that an airsoft rifle? Or a pellet gun, as someone else said?

Agree that the ROE's would be sooooo strict that having anything more than a 9mm would be pushing it.

All in all, it looks more like a photo op for some guy that wanted to have a "rambo" pic for his wallpaper.
