I know of 1 group that went to Vietnam and paid the Vietnamese government for 8 formerly US turbine engines. I am sure there are lots of parts left there, how do you think someone would go about acquiring some of those parts and bringing them back to the USA?

My understanding is that the Thais value their historical aircraft and are not likely to sell any.

You better know high people in places if you want to get stuff out of Viet Nam. And bring wads of cash for bribes. And maybe you'll actually get your stuff out of country!

The people I know of who went took a big briefcase of money with them and had to pay off bribes to alot of different people, mostly military officers from what I understand...

I really want to find out more information about this!

even though vietnam is communist, corruption abounds. black market, etc. i'm reading a book about the vietnam war & it's policy doctrine, by & large the south nam govt, arvn, south nam air force was rife with corruption then too. now since the 1975 communist invasion / ending of the war, they have melded both factions into 1 really corrupt government!!! the south vietnamese in many cases left our military holding the bag & the sh*t end of the stick. i'be leery of any dealings with them.

There has been a few good deals in Vietnam,
I was looking at a book today called My Vietnam it has a verry nice Bearcat in a museum in it.
Although it was one of a few that has recently been exported.
There must be other aircraft.

Of the former VNAF Bearcats, Setter mentioned a year ago there were 4 that he knew of...IIRC.
