The 381st Bomb Group (H) will be holding their 2012 Reunion Aug 1-5 in Dayton, OH ... The B-17 Texas Raiders, painted as a 533rd Sqdn, 381st BG B-17 will be joining in the reunion flying into the Wright Bros Airfield located south of town.

Based on what I have heard, both tours of the plane as well as rides will be available. For those in the Dayton area or would like to visit mark your calendars.

In addition, I am embroidering both the Group and Squadron logo hats to help out.

Nice!
You found out before I did, but after-all I am now just a has-been!

I need a 533rd hat.
AND I am thinking I need to see what it would cost to have one my Dad's Sqdn. patches from the 384th reproduced onto a hat or three.

See you in Dayton,

SPANNER

Is the 384th a Sqdn. or Group. If a Sqdn, what Group was it ... I'll take a look

Wouldn't you know it..we're headed right through Dayton on our way south on Vacation..on the 6th.

TR was the first B-17 I ever saw in real life, back in 1977..and I haven't seen her since. When we were at Thunder a couple of years ago she was in a hangar across the field with a maintenance issue.

The reunion is the 1-5 ... maybe the Texas Raiders will stay over for a day or so afterwards ... When I find out their final dates for being at the Wright Bros Airport, I'll pass it on.

The time has come ... Texas Raiders is due in Dayton sometime tomorrow morning. The 381st Reunion Attendees have a special tour and a get together tomorrow. I plan on attending.

The markings of not only the 381st and the 533rd but that of the B-17 "Princess Pat" VP X is that of the 17 that my cousin flew his first combat mission on.

Hopefully, I can find out why that particular plane.

Will she still be coming into Bluegrass in Lexington KY on the 5th? I've set aside that day to travel over with my son to see her.
