What guges do you see here?

Mon May 21, 2012 5:34 pm

Trying to identify these for a project and just want to be sure...

From top to bottom and left to right:

Altimeter
Tach
VSI
Magneto Switch
Airspeed
Oil Pressure
Fuel selector on the bar below

Plane is the restoration of Pancho Barnes' Travel Air Type-R...

Thanks in advance...

Kevin

Wing Nut,
I believe you have the tach and airspeed swapped. That looks like an airspeed next to the VSI but I could be seeing things.

Please tell us more about this restoration and where it is. Any more pictures?

Thanks,
David

Yes, bottom-center is an old-style tach.

I'm curious then, because the airspeed indicator only has double digit numbers instead of triple. The plane will definitely go over 100 kts. I had thought that would mean it was the tach while what actually IS the tach has numbers going all the way around it. I am not an expert, so I'll take you word for it...

Edit: Never mind, I see it now. The numbers co counter-clockwise ending in 120...

The airspeed appears to me to be clockwise rotation with 220 mph as the last number at the upper left. The maximum allowable speed for a Travel Air Mystery Ship is 235mph and the airspeed indicator is good to at least 270mph.
