Kermit Weeks took a tour of the shop a week or two ago and posted a couple photos on his Facebook page; work is already well underway on the fuselage structure.

Is the Labrador Fortress simply going to be given the Liberty Belle name when it is restored, or is Mr Brooks going to both rebuild the Labrador B-17 AND rebuild Liberty Belle?

Based on what I heard in the Warbird Radio interview it sounds like the current plan is to rebuild BOTH, with Liberty Belle given priority and the Labrador B-17 being a long term project. 8)

Per Ray Fowlers interview yesterday on Warbird Radio, there has been some discussion about incorporating some of the parts of Liberty Belle into the Labrador B-17, but the current idea is leaning toward rebuilding Liberty Belle as a separate project. Currently, there are no parts of Liberty Belle down at Don Brooks place in Douglas...........

How can they rebuild the Bell? The whole fuselage burned
Wouldn't it be easier to just use the Labrador B-17 and complete it with Liberty's wings?

From what i recall, there wasn't much left of the Canadian fuselage other than a very beat up partial cockpit/radio room.

As longs as most of the hardware survived, this can be rebuild. The fuselage is just aluminum sheet held together with aluminum ribs. The rest is rivets and hardware.

I wish them well! :drink3:

From what I heard in the Warbird radio show, they are looking for a fuselage to use as the base of "new" Liberty Belle and incorporate parts from the original Liberty Belle into this fuselage.

Kermit's pictures are of the Labrador B-17 rebuild. As far as I know, no final decision has been made as to the direction of the Liberty Belle rebuild.
