I referenced Alan C. Carey's superb, Leatherneck Bombers: Marine Corps PBJ Mitchell Squadrons in World War II, to find that Vincent was with VMB-423 and is actually listed as a Technical Sergeant. Looks like they were flying BuNo35087, a PBJ-1D on an operational (non-combat) mission.

Welcome home indeed. I wish I'd been the Captain of that AA MD-80 that day. As the son of a PBJ pilot, it would have been a unique honor.

Did you notice what the airport fire trucks did for that MD-80 on arrival and taxi? They've been doing the water cannons over the airplanes each time the body of a service member comes home to Tulsa. There have been too many of those lately.
