Any P-40 experts care to comment on this image?

There are currently enough flying P-40's, and why would the BoB flight want one flying or not? I find it odd that everyone runs to the far end of the room to waving signs to 'keep the Lady Be Good' as she is but wants this equal example restored back to factory new and not pause to think about this time capsule laying undisturbed for nearly 70 years and what an impact it could have on viewers, people love the 'as found on the bottom' dioramas @ Pepsicola plus not knowing where the pilot is just adds to the mystery surounding it.

How is it possible to tell how far a vehicle was driven just by a photo?

Who are you to decide how many we need of what? I haven't seen anything, anywhere on wix that says you have any experience with warbirds, P-40 or otherwise. What makes you think you should be judge and jury in this case?

I agree with the Inspector; it's value as a time capsule outweighs it's value as a restored flyer. But that's just MY opinion.

Well we all have our views on what the ultimate fate of this aircraft should be. I personally agree with The Inspector. And I do have a bit to do with P40's on a daily basis. This is a time capsule and to conserve this example as it currently sits is the only course of action in my view. It is complete and absolutely amazing that it has survived in this state. To tear this airframe apart so you can see it in the air would be a travesty. To lose most of the original structure just to see it fly is just not worth the loss. Also if the speculation regarding the pilot is correct this is another brave soul who gave his life fighting for his country and what he believed in. This aircraft will hopefully become a conserved memorial for all the fallen like him.

Concur. All the P-40 owners we have consulted about this find are of the same opinion-it should not be messed with.

I may be weird here (And probly am) But i don't think she should be preserved like she is. IF there's enough left of LBG she should be restored to flying status

Speaking of this, when are we getting Lady Be Good back from Libya?

Who are you to tell anyone on this board to not express their opinion? Please, do feel free to dazzle us with your expertise!

I agree, this one should be kept as is. Just touch up what has been done up to this point and leave it alone! Yes, there are plenty of P-40's out there and more coming out soon. One undisturbed original would be a nice thing to have.

As for the LBG, just let her go. We can't save them all.

I cannot remember where i read, or saw it, but it was inside one of the Warbird magizene's, and it showed a picture of a B-24 under a tent and said it was recently recovered of the coast of Italy...

Judging from the photos, "Lady Be Good" is now, for all intents and purposes (provenance aside) really not much more than just scrap. It's too bad, but that's about the size of it.
