Somehow I don't think that's gonna buff out. It went down gear-up in shallow water just a very short distance off the beach... shallow salty water and 68 years has a way of making a mess of metal airplanes, unfortunately.

I'll be curious to see what they wind up doing with this... don't get me wrong, I'm happy to see ANY salvage effort on a WWII aircraft, particularly one as neat as the He 219, but this just looks like a hot mess.

Always cool to see something like this salvaged.

Unfortunately, unless it's properly and very carefully conserved, the wreckage will turn to dust in a matter of months once it dries out.
