Well, since the photo came from GD/Convair, I'll say maybe the tailcone from the XB-32? (that's just a wild-a$$ guess..judging by this photo the mystery part may be too small.)

I think Steve's got it.

Looks the same.

There are other images in the run that match the B-32 testing phase, stuff I thought was B-29 at a glance, like firewalls, dinghy tests (as the start of the set) canopy glass test failures etc.

From the XB-32 period when the type was undergoing pressurisation development with remotely controlled guns - explaining the heavy framing with no armament...

I'm convinced! You can even see the filler strip on the top and the same 8 longerons.

Agreed, XB-32 - I even found a photo showing a solid panel or hatch on top, where I noted. Good job Steve!

Well of course the B-32 was pressurised - how else do you think they flew one all the way to the moon? Duh! :lol:

Can we please put that old urban legend to rest? I keep telling you guys..the plane on the moon is NOT a B-32. The photo is clearly an XB-24N!
