Both pilots are alive. One has been released from the hospital and the other had facial trauma though not known the severity. As of this moment the majority of the unstable structures have been searched and it appears there are no fatalities. Both pilots landed within yards of the impact and at least one still had the seat attached. Witnesses state they ejected at around 100 feet.

It was average citizens that went in and removed the pilots from the area after the crash. Everything we drill on here worked today and the outcome appears to be far better than anyone could have hoped for.

Time for some of you to join the "new" information age. Personally, I think that "Navy Jet Down" was generic enough information. I will take IMPORTANTnon speculative information from any source. I would rather not wait for tomorrows paper to hear about an aircraft carrying hydrazine crashing or a chlorine gas rail car derailment....especially if I happen to be downwind from such an accident. A few years back I witnessed a tornado form that appeared to be heading in our general direction. I sure as do you kiss your mother with that mouth? did not wait around for it to be confirmed for me.

Well maybe

This is what I mean. While it is nice to get the news about all things warbird like this here on WIX, when it comes to aircraft accidents being posted here, there seems to be a Chinese Fire Drill about being the first to post what is going on without vetting, verifying, or otherwise qualifying the information before posting. There is also no standard for posting this information and I strongly think that needs to be changed.

Just passing the word baby, I'll let the major media outlets do their own vetting and verifying

Having personally been on the death notification team a time or two, I have strong opinions about this. And I don't care how many times you open your mouth to defend your 1st Amendment rights or whatever their called outside of the US, there needs to be some decorum and perhaps an SOP (that's Standing Operating Procedure) about how it gets posted here on this board. Primarily, before you run to the WIX and yell "AIRCRAFT DOWN," you should check your facts, verify the sources, and perhaps inquire about the important things like survivors. After that, post. But be discrete, a little sensitive, and perhaps hold back if you aren't sure. Why?- Because you might be telling somebody the news that their best friend died or was seriously injured.

see above

I happened to be watching CNN, and nothing was posted on WIX yet. My first thought, which I think most people have, was to tell people here on WIX. But I held off to get more information. This is the second time in a few days that this was done this way- rush to get the information posted here without checking facts, then let it sort itself out. Sorry, I think as adults we can do better than that.

good for you

I'm not running away because my feelings are hurt. But I'd rather see another, specific board separate from the WIX hangar to post accident/incident information. Along with that, but at a minimum, I'd like to see an SOP.

And Paul K., BTW, I don't buy your story. You have too much web experience/expertise to have something like that happen to you.

Dude sorry to have pi$$ed in your wheaties. I have another acronym for you: WTF (Whiskey Tango Foxtrot)

can we please get our egos out of this thread? This could have been a tragic situation, and it is innappropriate to turn a thread about it into a sugar for ANY reason. FF, while I get your point (I've worked public affairs and been involved in the same thing) screaming about it in thread makes the thread about YOU, not the incident. Talk to mods and the OP via pm instead of having a sugar. If you were involved in family affairs then you should also know the importance of tact, and how to use it. Everybody else, get over it. This could well have been a thread about a tragedy, fuilled with whines and complaints about each other instead of paying attention to the victims themselves. Sort of disgusting, if you think about it.

I would have to agree with Muddyboots. I'm a little baffled by all the negative posts. All I see is "Navy Jet down" and two links. Nothing to get too upset about as far as posting anything here. As tragic as it is to lose a jet and damage to property, we can celebrate the fact that so far no one has been killed. And FF I get your point as well in some cases but I haven't seen anything but respect and good wishes for the awful events of the past few days.

You know, I get another e-mail saying this was replied to and yet , I see another slander on me, yet again. You are correct, I am and have many years of experience, but I also, have recently had my hotmail account hacked as well.

I would not care if you "bought" my story or not, opinions are like A$$holes, everyone has one.

Don't ever comment about me again.

Sorry to hear your gmail got hacked and sorry you don't post here anymore. Your input was appreciated.

Warbird Kid, I am sorry too. But to have people slander me on this board many many times, I had enough.

Now, I have not posted in a very long time, and yet again, people like Forgotten Fields, has the audacity to excuse me of lying about my account being hacked.

It was, and my hotmail account as well. End of story.

I miss the old WIX board. It has grown into something I just do not feel that I have any input into any longer and have decided not to post on here anymore.

Many people could care less about my comment right here, which is fine, I have many other things keeping me busy other than keeping immature comments about my posts on here.

If you enjoyed my posts, I am over at US-Aircraft.com now, so come join me over there, if you like.

Cheers!

This is the internet people you need the have a thick skin. other wise people will say things just to make you mad... its called trolling.

The request for a separate location for downed air craft and web sight policy is a reasonable one. His concerns regarding notification are valid, but a bit out dated given the rate information now travels. Still providing a location that clearly deals with downed aircraft partially addresses His concern regarding people rushing to be the "first" at posting what is essentially a tragedy. This gives people who frequent this board an option of ignoring a topic that may involve people they know in real life. Hearing about the death of a friend or family member on a private non news message board is different then hearing about it on CNN.
Some thread titles can be misleading, so a special location for downed aircraft tells you all you need to know about the content and gives you the option of reading at your own risk.
