Safety... Look at my aviatar and see where I stand.... After 17 years as a lawyer I see things differently than most people. Safety is VERY important in events.... While Reno was fairly safe (I watched the accident happen), but putting children on the line isn't a good idea.

Thats something that hacked me off about Sun'N'Fun in Lakeland this year. A few years ago they would only let in FAA approved pilots onto the flightline, which ment they never had to close the flightline. Now, since they let everyone in, they have to close the entire flightline during the show, which they close at 11 Am. and the show ends at 5 Pm, and because of the traffic leaving, everyone leaves early.

Which means, when i went on friday, i didn't get to watch the Mustangs and Corsair start up, and the B-29 was in a certain spot on the flightline where they wouldn't even let us see Fifi up close. So i never even got to touch her, much less see her fly. (She was getting a tire changed)

Safety is important, but in this case it kind of ruined the show...

EAA OSH used to be like that..... EAA and pilots could only get on flight line, general public had to stay back. Now everyone has to be EAA to be allowed in....

Times change

Well, the difference here is that everyone is allowed in.

So, because of insurance issues with letting everyone in, they have to close it from 11 to 5. And i like to look around the parts booths (which close at 5), watch the show and go on the flightline, but i cant watch the airshow and look inside the hangars.

Grrr....
