Many years ago this B-17 project "Outhouse Mouse" was looking for a sponsor to get it back in the air. Well along came Don Brooks but he changed the name to "Liberty Belle" to honor his father who flew in a B-17 by that name in WW2. After being completely restored by Tom Reilly in Florida, the plane took to the skies about 6 years ago. It made many stops across the US over the years but a fire forced it down in Oswego,Illinois last summer. No one was hurt but the plane was a total loss except for the engines and the tail section. Don Brooks has another B-17 restoration job in the works. Perhaps someone here has an update on that project.

My wife and I saw this B-17 being rebuilt at Kissimmee in 2001. They were selling stuff related to the “Outhouse mouse” name at the time and I still have a pin with that name on it, it also had the words, “Fortress Flight” on it as well. It also took me a while to figure out this was the same aircraft.
