A friend of mine is putting together a special tribute for a WWII P-51 pilot...but needs our help. He's looking for the serial number of Maj. Earl Depner's P-51D. Maj. Depner flew with the 354th FG and his airplane was named the "Billings Belle". I have no doubt an accurate answer will be posted soon. A special WarbirdRadio.com door prize is in it for the first correct answer.

Thanks for the speedy help folks. ~Matt

Matt,

According to Steve Blake:

"Major Depner’s last assigned P-51 with the 354th FG was 44-63669 (AJ-D), a D-20 model that was badly damaged in a taxiing accident while being flown by another pilot shortly after VE Day, on May 26, 1945."
