Warbirds in civvies were not common in Australia due to the ban regarding the civil registration of ex military aircraft except in certain circumstances. Today, of course, this situation has changed dramatically

CAC Mustang VH-BOY was operated by Chieftan Flying Services in the 1970's as a target tug under contract to the Australian military. It was impounded by Australian Customs after an attempt to export it without a permit and was given to the RAAF Museum which swapped it for an SE 5 and Avro 504 replicas.

Lockheed Hudson VH-AGP was one of a number operated by Adastra Aerial Surveys. The aircraft was eventually sold to the Australian War Memorial where it remains today.

CAC Mustang VH-IVI was one of several registered in the 1970's after the Australian Dept of Civil Aviation slipped up and granted a Mustang a full C of A. After that the precedent was set. The aircraft was destryed in a fatal crash.

This CAC Wirraway was registered in a special category to allow it to be flown as a familiarisation trainer for the CAC Ceres crop duster program. The Ceres was developed from the Wirraway. Instead of the standard VH registration the aircraft carried a registration consisting of its model designation followed by its constructors number.
