Hurricance fighter import to Australia in 2012?

Fri Feb 17, 2012 8:40 am

Someone passed me a report that is rather old i am lead to believe that says from New Zealand is coming in 2012 all going well ...... a potential Hurricane fighter warbird import into Australia sometime.

Last i heard about the sale a long time ago, was that this wasnt possible due to a "condition" put on the aircraft when restored.
If sale is indeed correct, this means a rare fighter will be seen in Australia hopefully for the first time since WW2 trials of Hurricanes.

Sounds like standard rumours about the Wanaka Hurricane. Various organisations assisted with its restoration by Tim Wallis etc, and may have a valid point that it shouldn't be exported without their OK.
I hope it flies at this year's WOW, it didn't at the previous one (that I attended)!

I'd prefer it was flying in Oz than in the current situation in NZ.
