Well that would usually be true if it weren't Paul Allen. Never know it may end up in Royal Navy markings.

Be assured that whatever scheme is selected it will be very meticulously researched and vetted and proved thirty seven ways from Sunday to be 100% correct and accurate, the mud wrestling from some quarters over the FW-190 and the legitimacy of it's scheme proven to be correct down to colors, by a large number of photographs taken while the project was sitting on a hanger floor still covered in dried mud from the Rodina.
There was some grousing about the paint on the P-40 I was amongst those who thought it should go into Soviet markings but the accuracy of the AVG paint job is hard to refute.
If the F6F winds up in RN colors, so what? They had and used lots of them and fought hard with them in both the Pacific and Atlantic theatres and deserve some well needed props for their sacrifices for freedom.

Royal Navy markings would be nice! Something a bit different and a pleasant reminder that we were not in it by ourselves.

(a P-40 in Russian markings would have been nice as well, especially if that was the heritage of the specific aircraft. As it is, the uneducated museum goer might think that all P-40s used in WWII had shark-mouths)

....and TFC old scheme.

And CAF Wildcat scheme (sort of!)

And Shuttleworth's Wildcat scheme to come in a year or so.

And the RN Blue scheme has been done on TFC and VWoC's Corsairs too!

While I think most agree that the Russian markings on the P-40 would've been awesome the children (a.k.a. the future of aviation) won out with their love of "the plane with the teeth" and in return we got the most accurate AVG P-40 in existence. Win-Win for everyone!!!

Small quibble... the scheme is absolutely legit, no question. The colors chosen for the restoration, not so much- as evidenced by photos of the airframe prior to restoration. Regardless, the accomplishment is an outstanding one and I am immensely impressed that there is a genuine airworthy Luftwaffe Fw 190 combat veteran airworthy right here in this country. :)

I was 100% with you on the Russian markings...but I admit I've bought a couple of the AVG/FHC t-shirts with the tiger on them for the niece (and myself, of course)!

But I probably would've bought the T if it had Russian stuff as well, just for kicks.

That's a great shirt! I need to get one of the darker brown versions.

I'm still bummed the B-25 shirts have the skull/wings on the back. I tend to wear open long sleeve button down shirts and like my t-shirt logos on the front.

Agreed, wish we could see a few of the imposter AVG P-40's changed to something more accurate for the type. Got no problem with the 'teeth' as there are many 'teeth' P-40 schemes that are not represented enough, if at all. 2 cents

So yeah, Stuka! pop2 I was thinking, right after it came out who the Il-2's owner was, that the next surprise reveal had a high chance of being a Ju-87.

It would be phenomenal to see one fly again.

What is nice about this thread is gives a real sense of hope to seeing a JU-87 fly again. Wow... is several years they will have one killer German aircraft collection!

I really wish they would have a "flying weekend" that they parade all / most of their aircraft. That way I could justify a plane ticket out there for a fly day. Not complaining just dreaming! :drink3:
