USAF Thiokol 601 Snowcat

I have a 1963 Thiokol 601 snowcat. It was formerly used in the DEW line and then sent to Northern most Air Force Bases for downed pilot rescue. I use it to get in and out of my hunting camp in winter but do plan to restore it to original strata blue eventually. I was wondering if anyone here had any information, pictures stories about these vehicles?

I am fairly certain that my dad drove around in one of them while he was at Thule Air Base back in the mid 60's. He always talked about having to take the little tracked vechile to the outhouse because it was to cold to pee outside True or not it was a pretty funny thought.

They were still running around in the early 80's
We had them @ Eielson AFB while i was there "1980-1983"

We get over 300 inches of snow at my camp. I started out with a M29 weasel, but this gets us in in style.

It was small (4 seat), it could have been a Studebaker Weasel. The AF still had a few in the 60s.
We had one at Duluth when I was a kid.

They were a lot of fun and great history serving in WW2 with the FSSF and 10th mountain. The problem is, most WW2 vehicles were designed for 150 pound 17 year olds, not 240 pound 50 year olds. Also, the suspension was like driving a chain saw. The 601 is easier to get in and out of and a little more comfortable to ride.
