I am doing some research for my website's jet registry and was wondering how many U.S. built T-33's are flying, and which ones? :)

Thx,
Nathan

Nathan, Collings Foundation's N648 is a Lockheed built T-33A.

Thanks Rich. But isn't this T-33 currently static? That's the status of it on the website. :)

Fox News showed a T-33 in a Blue Angels scheme wheels-up on a runway somewhere yesterday...

Any ideas?

I know that the Collings T-33 was in the air with the F-4 and TA-4 last Fall at Randolph AFB, but I am sure Rick can provide more details.

The "Blue Angels" T-33 that made the wheels up landing may very well be a Canadian built T-33. Most of the flying T-33's in the U.S. are Canadian built versions with Canadian engines, and I think Nathan is asking about the small number of flying T-33's that are actually originally Lockheed U.S. built with U.S. engines.

Nathan, there is a static T-33 at Stow. The Lockheed flyer is based in Houston.

Anyone know the origins of the Santa Fe T-33 (Jet Warbird Training Center - T-birds scheme)?

I haven't seen a close up enough picture to get an N-number

You are correct about just wanting info on flying LOCKHEED T-33's. I am building my jet warbird registry up. I am only recording U.S. built vintage jets that are still flying or have recently flown in the last 5-10 years.

Dear Rich,
Do you have a photo of it I could use?

Some non-US air arms are still flying T-33s (amazing, if you think about it!). I wonder if any of those are US-made, or if they're all Canadair versions. Bolivia and Mexico come immediately to mind as current military T-33 operators. FAB's jets are armed AT-33s, and I know that at least some of those are Canadair.

The Salt Lake Tribune has video of the landing here:
