since there are so many B-17's and the B-17 Registry is currenly undergoing overhaul, I figure that this a/c desrves its own section.

Nice pictures.
The French airforce museum have an ex-IGN fortress in store. I wonder if, when they get round to restoring it, they will keep it in IGN condition or turn it into a 8th airforce one?

The musée de l'air et de l'espace will not restore the B-17 from many many many years... there is many many reasons... and it's hard for me to explain that because I'm not working on that Museum

The musée de l'air et de l'espace have many other plane in storage (Connie, B 707, MS 406...) maybe more than 100 planes some retored planes are not on display (B-26 Invader...)

here is a good link: http://www.pyperpote.tonsite.biz/listinmae/

It would be nice to be able to examine '889 closely for traces of any PFF modifications, although if any existed they would likely be pretty well hidden by the various later USAF ELINT and IGN modifications.

She's well within the known PFF serial number range, 44-8882 was a pathfinder for the 34th Bomb Group at Mendlesham, and 44-8908 was with the 100th BG at Thorpe Abbotts.

I also have in my PFF lists:
44-8912 303BG Molesworth
44-8916 100BG Thorpe Abbots
44-8921 34BG Mendlesham
44-8923 384BG Grafton Underwood
44-8927 457BG Glatton
44-8928 388BG Knettishall
44-8925 388BG Knettishall

Sorry, my PFF Perversion is surfacing again.

All the best,
PB
