This photo was taken on the East side of the airport looking West. Current Terminal building would be on the opposite side of this photo.

The Air Museum was housed in that hangar for a few years before the 1979 Tornado.

From what I can see, at least 2 of the Thunderbolts in the first picture are P-47D's. I make out serial numbers:

42-22564 P-47D-3-RA (marked V19 in the pic) & 42-22417 P-47D-2-RA (marked V36 in the pic)

Both were Evansville built (42-22564 being the first -3-RA) & both have had accident history according to the aviation archaeology website. There could be a few C models in there, but B models have a forward swept antenna behind the canopy.
