Hmmm. Maybe I should add a "squadron membership" option there on the donation page. Certainly, if WIXers come to town and I'm not busy with students, I'd be happy to try and arrange a flight. We do have insurance and pilot minimums as well as being a squadron member to be PIC. That said, our squadron's membership is really cheap considering. It's $200/yr as a pilot for the first year and $100/yr if you stick around for the next year. The squadron board (I'm one of 5 board members) would still have to approve you and there would be a checkout flight. Usually we do a flight in either the L-2 or J-3 first. There being no brakes in the back seat and a poor view make it a poor aircraft for dual.

I'll be sure to fly down in my C-140A...

But first I'm headed to Florida next month to see Chuck Gardner for a week of fun...

Just wanted to bump this thread and say that I have enjoyed reading the book "Box Seat Over Hell" which came along with my donation. It was a gift to my father, but gratefully, he let me having it back long enough to read myself! I thought it was a pretty good collection of anecdotes about liaison flying, and I would recommend it to all, especially since the cause is so worthy.
After reading this book, I've tried to find a more compreshensive history (like a full on official history, with a decent bibliography, etc.) of the liaison story, but I've not had any luck. Can anyone make any recommendations?
