Have already been digging there ... but cant seem to come up with a definative answer :?
Read one post that said that the frame was black (or more specifically a very dark chromate green that appears black) but I am not so sure I buy that as other references say yellow :?

Try Clyde Smith, "The Cub Doctor", he is the man:

The frames were painted with green zinc chromate primer. The fuselage was set in a trough and the paint was applied with a large hose much like watering the garden. Not much finesse there.

Rand-o-plate dark green is a very nice match for the old zinc chromate primer.

Ok, So lets accept that it was dark green/black .. then what happened when they sprayed the yellow inside the cockpit.
I am guessing that they did not mask the frame :?
Also, it seems that approx instrument panel forward (interior) is black ..but what about the bracing tubes in front of the cockpit ? Yellow or black

The entire fuselage inside and out was sprayed without windows. The entire inside and outside of the fuselage was the same color, tubes included. You are correct, nothing was masked. Floor and parts of the cabin sides had black applied following the yellow.
