Does anyone know if we swung any deals with the so-called government to retrieve any of these three Furies? I know the two seater was moved to a secure location by the Brits, but I don't know if it ever left the country.

You can guarantee some one had "authorization" to remove them.

Holy cow. I didn't think there'd be any Sea Fures left over there, that T Mk.20 is in relatively good condition. Any information about the other aircraft?

Check out CW 53 for a load more photos and some (limited) info about these aircraft and others in that part of the world.

There is footage out there of some of the FB 11 and Tmk 20 airframes being on the receiving end of Mk 82's during the Gulf War...a sad end being used as decoys.

Even without these, current supply of Sea Furies still outstrips demand. In other words, if you want one, you'd be able to get a deal on an available flyer (or project) for less cash and more certainty than these.

Question as to what / where / now stands though!

Regards,

Nah....war prize.

I"m also reminded of what Colonel Sherman T Potter told the old Korean man that tried to sell him some land....

"This is the Army we don't buy land. If we want it, we take it."

I spent the day at the Local American Legion in Larchmont, NY. I caution you to consider the price that was paid for these airframes. Not trying be a downer but after seeing the letters and photos of the kids that have been over there over the past 10 years, this kinda struck me wrong.

An important point Drew, thanks for the reminder.
