That was quick...I only sent him the scan yesterday! I bought it on ebay for use in the first part of my 'Fw190 Survivors' article which will be out in the Classic Wings issue before Xmas...look out for something special to be included

the 118th TRS ship "Lady Marion" with the Chinese guard is copyright by Robert "Bob" Bourlier from FL - his dad used to be a member of the 118th TRS and took many outstanding photos & slides there.
I have this and many other colour & b/w pics in ultra-high rez on CD's directly from Bob.

that ww2incolor site is a melting pot of copyright violations - although it's nice to see so many colour photos in one place, it is not nice to see that most of the photos have been taken / imported / copied / organized / stolen.... (whatever you choose) from a) other websites or b) scanned from copyrighted publications.
also ww2color (ethell's site) features many photographs that either are official USAAF photos or clearly the work of other photographers that somehow ended up in original or duplicate form in Ethell's collection and therefore are definitely not Ethell's copyright either !

Does anybody have information on the P-39 photo?
I noticed the "Flying Yankee" symbol on the door used by the Connecticut
Air National Guard. The squadron insignia portrays Capt. Joseph Wadsworth in 1687
running to hide the CT. Charter in an oak tree to preserve CT self-rule from the British.
The unit dates back to WWI with the 118th Aero Squadron and the insignia is still used today with the
CT Air National Guard 118th FS flying A-10s.

You're correct here Martin. I loaned Jeff over 200 original color slides in which he made dups. Did I give up my rights on any of these? NO! Does his family have any rights to these images? NO again! A few years back, Jeff's daughter put out a book from his notes on Korea War Pilot rememberances called "Hot Shots". A number of my Korean War Slides were used without my permission although I was credited they spelled my name wrong and reproduced these beautiful images in B & W. All those dups slides in the collection are just that. The owner or photographer of the original still has the rights to the image. The selling of the images or using ithem without permission is unlawful.

I understand more than you guys can begin to comprehend, what this issue means to Martin, to Jack, to me and many others.
There are people out there, who have no compunction in lifting copyrighted photographs and publish them with their own stamp, as if this legitimizes the thievery that they have committed.
Their rationale is, that since they are not making money or they are not publishing them for profit, then it is OK not to credit the rigthful owners.
Rubbish! Honesty, decency and good manners (in addition to some little thing called THE LAW) dictate that the authors should be fully credited (no initials, no abbreviations) for their work.
YES, there is work and knowledge involved in taking a photo; there is composition, there is the balance of light and shutter speed, the research that goes into documenting a photograph.
I understand and agree with the feelings expressed here vis-a-vis: photo thieves.

I viewed the web site's Luftwaffe section and found two images from slides in my collection, illustrated. The Arado 234 Blitz bomber, that is shown very dark in the print, is from an original WWII slide obtained from a veteran involved in OPERATION Lusty. The slide shows a German guard near the aircraft at Grove, Denmark in June 1945.
The other image on the web site is from a slide obtained from the same veteran, showing a line of parked He219s--the first three of which were selected at Grove and returned to the USA for test and evaluation, during Operation Lusty. This photo previously appeared in Phil Butler's book "War Prizes". Both original slides, along with others, will eventually be donated to the National Air and Space Museum (NASM), Washington, DC.
I plan publishing another three articles, installments 4, 5 & 6 of "ATI and Operation Lusty" in the "American Aviation Historical Society" journal and hopefully will include these two images, along with other color images taken also at Grove and Lechfield, Germany.
I have no objection to sharing the material shown on the web site, but request the webmaster CREDIT the original source of the images.

Amazing color photos!
Anyone know of an easy way to put a "stamp" on the photos? I have just been adding a text box with my name at the bottom of most of mine... but that is a few extra steps. Most of my photos dont have stamps and now (like some of you) I am seeing them on other web sites!
