This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

This is a semi-warebird....the RAF evaluated it for the AOP/utility role...
The Wisconsin-based Percival EP9 (it looks like a Cub that was rear ended by a BO105 helicopter fuselage) at Oshkosh had a "For Sale" sign on it.
Anyone know who the owner is and how I could get in touch with him?

Grab the next 'Classic Wings' which is out hopefully by the end of the week, it has pics of all the survivors in an article on it. If you can't wait that long you can PM me.

The Prospector was never evaluated by the RAF. This machine was used by the Army Air Corps for evaluation as XM819 but wasn't accepted.
She has been owned by her current owner for a great many years - the type was initially designed for the utility role including crop spraying ,air ambulance, freight and para dropping.

Im trying to get a ride in an EP9. Anyone know who I can get in touch with?
Long story but it involves a close family connection to the type.

I always wanted a Boeing YL-15. In a book my dad had about the Stearman lineage, it was the last of the line for the Stearman- Boeing engineer staff.
I have seen the Percival several times at Oshkosh. I wasshocked the first time I saw it. One look and I realized why Percival no longer is in business and why no one wanted their aircraft. Especially shocking was how ugly it is for a post war design, and how much drag it has. It is really slow for a 1950's design.
To each his own.

Hold the phone !
The first company formed by Edgar Percival was Percival Aircraft. Far from 'no one wanting' their aircraft a series of successful and efficient designs were produced including the famous Gull racers. Proctor, Prentice and Provost trainers for the RAF followed several hundred of each being produced (well OK the Prentice was a dog) as well as the Prince twin-engined transport.
When the original Percival became part of Hunting (as in Jet Provost), EP formed a
second company Edgar Percival Aircraft and the EP9 was the only model they produced. Lancashire Aircraft took over production and a total of 21 were made.
Other aircraft you may be interested in are the Transavia Airtruck and the Auster B4
