Does any one know of any other DC3's out there other than the ones mentioned earlier? Are there any out there that could be had in Oklahoma, Louisiana, Mississippi etc.?

How about a big Convair CV-640 (something from that family) from the Vintage Flying Museum? Two fuselages with inner wing roots and nacelles are about to get scrapped. I'm sure they would even make great red neck hunting cabins as an alternative. :)

If they are going to scrap them, then I have to save them. Let me know who to talk to.

Too bad you missed that one in San Antonio by just a few months!

I was thinking just the same! By 90 days too!

Darn!!!!!

I'm really kicking myself over the loss of those three. By the time I got there, one was completely gone, another was severely brutalized, but the other would have worked just fine. They were asking somewhere around $5000 for the last fuselage and I thought that was a bit high. I should have made them an offer and saved the plane. My head wasn't screwed on right after a long hot day in the sun and heat and having been stung by every wasp out there on the property. Loosing those three planes sickens me- even if they were eat up with corrosion.

Thanks for the contact info! I'll give him a call today.
I still have my heart set on a DC3. Hopefully I will find one.

Is this the plane that was mentioned earlier in FT Worth Sycamore field? Wow what a history!
Not unless I'm horribly confused (it's been known to happen):
"Kilroy" is N710Z with the Combat Air Museum Ks, unless there's another one.
N583V is at Sycamore and has been for 20+ years.
N308SF is registered in Tennessee but current whereabouts unknown ?
Both the last two were offered on ebay but neither sold; you can see both on this page and they are obviously not one and the same:

N583V is still there...reportedly sold to some one in Florida a few years ago...no info since then....

It seems to be 42-92555 - J. Baugher lists c/n 12369 as.... to RAF as Dakota III KG360. Returned to USAAF Nov 11, 1946

It is not N308SF...that one is still flying..at least there are pictures of it in the air on South Carolina in 2008....

WallyB--

42-100521 (c/n 18984) to N65384. By 1954 was N45V of Piedmont Aviation. Later on civil registry as N308SF.

According to this citation in Joe's numbers database N308SF has a USAAF serial number of 42-100521. 2100521 carried the nose art name KILROY WAS HERE with the history I provided in the earlier post.

N710Z's real USAAF serial number is 44-76582 delivered to USAAF Mar 27, 1945.

So to your point...there IS another one....

The plane currently flying in OD and stripes as KILROY is the imposter. The plane with civil registry N308SF is the REAL KILROY....

Made me go back and check my work! Looks like I was right..."its been known to happen" :D

Canada is a bit out of my reach. I hate to hear that they are having to scrap them.

Not totally sure byt there was a dc-3 at ATX(Waco International) in 2005 when i used to work on the Spirit of Waco. You might be able to see it on google earth. Dont think it had wings though.
