I'mlooking for a junk DC3 / C47 for display in or near Texas

I have an odd request and I hope one of you will be able to help me. I'm looking for a DC-3 or C47 to be used for display purposes. The more complete the better, but I'll take what I can get too. I have the crazy idea of turning one into a bed and breakfast. I'm not rolling in the dough, so the cheaper the better. I hope to find something here in Texas or only a state or so away. Corrosion is OK. What do you have or know of?

there is the one that has been sitting at the Fredericksburg, Texas air port for years. it's actually been talked about here on WIX. the way i understand it, it belongs to the owner of Hangar Hotel and Diner. it was flown there on some rented engines, the some ran out engines were put on it for looks. here is the hotels web site link. http://www.hangarhotel.com/ i'm sure they could tell you more, but i have heard he does want to get rid of it. here is a link for a google-earth view. http://www.wikimapia.org/#lat=30.243497 ... uglas-DC-3

I talked to a friend of mine In Fredericksburg this weekend and he said that he had asked the owner of the hanger Hotel about it and that they wanted a LOT of money for that one. I'll try talking to the owner myself.

Keep in mind that even a plane that is missing the wings and engines would work. I could always come up with junk wings later on.

I agree with you. I love all of these old planes. Even a fragment isn't junk to me. But, I'm hoping someone has an airframe that They consider a junk white elephant

The Ft Worth Goonie is a real historic gem--N308SF--is 42-100521. Flew right wing to Col Kryssler of the 436th TCG leading Serial 10 into Normandy. Carried elements of 377th Parachute Field Artillery Bn of the 101st Airborne. Wartime nose art was KILROY WAS HERE.



My good friend Pat Elie has correspondence with the wartime pilot of this bird!
