It's been a little over 20 years since I filled out an FAA job app, well, the generic USG OPM app for an FAA opening, but I'm thinking that to be an Airworthiness Inspector, at least back then, you had to have an A & P cert. or the military equivalent. Am I mistaken or has that changed? The sad thing is, he's not the only idiot doing this kind of stuff.

What an insult to a Corsair & its prop! Hmm, now if he were to be pushed into a spinning prop...... Any spinning prop......

I saw this last night on Chris's Facebook page... This guy is an idiot... He should be tied to the prop of a Corsair and spun for 100 hours.
I feel so much safer in the air due to guys like this.

I’ll recall a story my father told me back in the 1980’s. Back then my father was the only person in Alberta who held a Pilot & AME Licence for the B-25 Mitchell. He was authorized by DOT (then called Department of Transportation) to endorse other B-25 drivers. This particular story involves an inspector who needed to be endorsed so that he could certify perspective B-25 pilots. However, my father first had to endorse this inspector and then once the inspector was certified he turned around and had to do a re-endorsement on my father to ensure he knew the ins and outs on this type of aircraft. Therefore, my father took this inspector out on a test flight and just after they took off (10 feet off the runway) the inspector instead of simulating a engine loss actually pulled the power back on the Starboard engine and said you just lost an engine what do you do. My father immediately applied power back to the right engine and leveled off and began chastising the inspector mentioning that this was a good way to get yourself killed. Take this story for what’s its worth but I believe my father had no further issues with this inspector.

I believe there is a story exactly like this from the testing of (I think) the DC-1. The inspector cut out an engine immediately after takeoff from the high-altitude airport in Flagstaff, AZ. The pilot finished the flight to the planned destination on the single engine, thereby proving the aircraft's engine-ot performance. Perhaps this was inspiration for the inspector mentioned by Tanker 366.

Those are pretty scary YouTube videos but they are edited. Clearly, by somebody who wants to make the inspector look like a ding dong. In this case, it appears to have been an easy task. Still, this was taking place in an Administrative Law environment, right? I assume that most if not all FAA enforcement action still takes place in that Administrative Law environment, right? I'm more than a few credit hours short of a law degree but as I understand it, defentants in these cases have fewer rights and the burden of proof of wrong doing is not much of a burden at all. Am I wrong on any of the above points? I've never tangled with the FAA myself but I've certainly been on the sidelines for plenty of mud ball fights and a few epic battles when it comes to the FAA. Our local and regional FAA folks in the St. Louis area seem to be a reasonable bunch. I guess we are just lucky but I still try to stay clear of any "entaglements" with the FAA. I'm going to read JohnB's posted link for the rest of this story so I can find out how it all worked out.

If you watch, they are edited, however not during the questions and answers. They are edited over other material, however once again, the questions and answers are NOT edited.

What is the back story to this video being shot and I guess released? I assume it is an accident investigation?

I did not watch past several questions before I had to stop watching because of the level of stupidity of it.

Did he answered any of the questions "But I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night"?

I'm sorry, I got about half way through the first one and just couldn't listen to any more of this imbecile's, "I did not. I don't know. I learned to be an expert by watching other experts do it." Good Lord. I've watched mechanics, plumbers, carpenters, and electricians and still can't do any of that stuff. This guy should be fired just for being an idiot.

Mudge the incensed

Amen.

My thoughts exactly.

I didn't think anyone could top the idiocy from my FSDO. I was wrong.

I did enjoy watching him close his eyes and tightly grasp his hands, while trying to think up another way to weasel out of honestly answering a question.

This is an examination with lawyers after they grounded an airplane for Over flying the 100 hour inspection with out checking any documentation that would have shown them that the aircraft did not over fly it. They also fined them for not adhearing to an AD on the Lav which was not installed on the aircraft.

All we need is a guy in a home made tank and I'd feel like I was watching the Defender video all over again.
