When I first read the title of the post, I thought it might be the one that is on Guadalcanal, but this one is far more complete. Most interesting.

OZ RB-no I haven't heard any more about the recoveries since, we were in contact with the Aussie who was part of the project in conjunction with the proposed Solomons War Museum, so I will see if I can chase him up about progress.

An aquaintance of mine said that the Japanese should get it and sling an Ohka 11 (Baka Bomb) under it to help them remember World War 2.
Wonder what kind of hornets nest that would stir up

Wow - how cool is that! What I would not give to find a B-24 in a similar state.

An aquaintance said that on Tinian, after the war you could have had your pick of almost anything that the US military had. She said that the troops were so ready to go home that all kinds of vehicles and some aircraft were left just sitting around. Her Dad operated his store/hotel well into the 70's with a surplus fleet of jeeps and trucks that he just rounded up after the war ended.
