Thanks for taking the time to post that. I read it years ago. The LBG is a true legend, I really feel for the men who died, but in reality, they probably set some kind of record for surviving as long as they did. The distance they traveled on a bit of water was nothing short of amazing. Of course then they died a very miserable death.... A real shame it happened.

I cannot imagine how any one member of the crew felt when they chuted onto the desert floor and what went through their minds when the sun came up and all they saw was sand.....lots and lots of sand. it is amazing that the diary survived. Having read it before, I can only feel a sense of hopelessness....maybe it is because here I sit alive and well, and only through the diary, and the eventual discovery of their remains that I see their doom when they looked for rescue....God what a Generation....
