Since last week, I have been thinking about whether to come clean and admit, notwithstanding some survivor guilt about leaving before Friday's tragedy, that I had a really good time at Reno this year. I was not really interested in the competitive racing, but went as a vintage airplane buff to see a number of planes I had not yet caught up with. It really exceeded my expectations in terms of the number and variety of vintage aircraft that were there and how close you could get to them. Most of the pic posts I have seen of past Renos do not quite convey that variety. So for those who have not yet been, and maybe to help those of us who were there move on from what happened on Friday, here is a goodly sampling of my pics from Friday.

Great pictures, thanks! I love the Super Corsair, and I'm a huge Corsair fan in general, but I have to say that Precious Metal is one fantastic looking airplane.

That "Phantom" biplane just about ruined a spectacular post! Very nice pictures!

Didn't realize that Cripes A'mighty was still around. Where is it based?

Also, I really like that white Mustang with the thin black stripes.

Thanks for the pics!!!

Cripes is owned by Tom Ungrean (spelling?) the same guy who owns Race 74. Bob Odegaard is heavily invloved in both aircraft and right now both are based at the Az Wing of the CAF in Mesa Az.

Fabulous photos... thanks so much for posting. I was wondering which tricked out Sea Fury that was with the dark tinted glazing. Is that one of Rod Lewis's aircraft?

Cheers,
Richard

PS. I love Rare Bear's markings! She looks fast just sitting there... as did Galloping Ghost. I still can't believe what happened.

I have ALWAYS been a fan of Rare Bear but I got to say after seeing those pics of "GG". I really wish we got to see jimmy "play his hand" as that is one SLICK mustang!

We'll it's official. Our August's 'popular'. Who'dathinkit.

Photobucket's pulled August's pix because of the volume of traffic to them, to try and screw money out of WIX's favourite lawyer forcing him to upgrade to Photobucket 'Pro'. They obviously don't know who they're messing with.

I just wanted to see the pics! :(

It's funny, but I guess my computer still has all of 'em cached so I can still see them. They are truly very nice photos.
