Got to see the DC-10 airtanker at low level over the house. They were headed to Conroe to do a drop just north of the city.

Race #177 Galloping Ghost departed Minden this morning headed for Reno. It was great watching him fly over and past the house numerous times in the last week.
I wish I was headed to the races but something came up and I am tied up all week.

I often see P-3s heading into/out of Love Field in Dallas. I've not been able to discern any squadron markings on them, though that may just be my poor binoculars. Anyone know what our landlocked city would be doing with maritime patrol craft flying in and out?

The P-3s are probably from reserve squadrons going around collecting reservists. The squadrons at NAS JAX used to do that into NAS Atlanta when I was there. They would land, taxi up to the pax terminal , shut down the two port-side engines, drop the airstair, the reservists would run out and climb aboard, the airstair would retract, the two port-side engines would start up and the plane would taxi out and depart. Total elapsed time about 5 minutes. The only bases that now have P-3s are NAS Jacksonville, NAS Whidbey Island and MCAS Kaneohe Bay in Hawaii.

There are P-3s at Corpus, but they ain't Navy. Some of then 3 letter alphabet code guys fly them.
