I haven't seen anyone else mention this with all the unfortunate incidents this weekend, however I would at least like to make note that Mel Gregiore passed away at the age of 94 yesterday.

Mel was a big player in the sustained success of Lyle Shelton's "Rare Bear", and did a lot of 3350 wrench turning with association with Aircraft Cylinder and Turbine over the years. The technical expertise that that man took with him yesterday will never be replaced, and the aviation world is a slightly smaller place today because of it.

Kind of hard to be sad over 94 years of living life on your terms and not having any regrets--it's kind of like running out of gas or blowing your engine just as you take the checkered flag for a win--but there are a lot of people in the air racing side of the house who will feel his loss for a long time.
