FYI, I just got back word that the Reds do wear full G-Suits.
Interesting- I remember hearing (I think on a Discovery documentary) that the Blues don't wear G-suits as the suit inflation can interfere with subtle control movements and/or cause inadvertent subtle control inputs. There could be incapacitation even with a g-suit of course, but it would diminish the likelihood I would think. Whatever happened the videos do not seem to show any significant control inputs following the roll out of the turn until the aircraft disappears from sight.
Watching the videos of this accident reminded me of another apparent CFIT accident. A few years ago I lost a friend in an ultralight accident following a engine failure (dam 2-strokes) shortly after takeoff. He made a perfect 180 turn back towards the field and appeared to have flying speed and control. Then he just slowly drifted off to the right and impacted trees bordering the airfield. Needless to say we were all shocked and could not figure out what had happened. Later on speaking with his daughter we learned that he suffered from diabetes and she surmised that perhaps the sudden stress caused him to suffer some form of incapacitation.
