Hi all
Mrs Fence and I will be in Canada from the 8th September for two weeks. I am visiting family and, although this is the main purpose of the trip, I have a rough plan to visit the CWH at Hamilton and the Halifax at Trenton. I have been to both before, but I havent seen the Halifax in one piece before.

Not sure of timings etc (and probably wont until we get there) but does anyone have any other suggestions or want to meet up at either for a Coffee.

I wont have too much time for aviation but it would be a shame to to travel all that way and miss something.

I am in Ottawa, but will be on vacation in CA, AZ and NV at that time. If you do make it this far east keep in mind...

Of course there is much neat stuff between here and there...

Thanks guys thats wonderful.

Mike

Its doubtful that we will make it as far as Ottawa, which is a shame. However we haven't finished planning yet (and wont until we get there) so the links are useful.

Eric

We allowed to cross the border into the USA from canada without a visa (we can hget a visa waiver of we trevl vioa the USA in the first place) so that rules out Niagara. But the others look interesting so I may well be in touch. The Tiger Boys fly-in at Guelph looks interesting. Any idea what usually turns up?

As I said my main reason for travelling is to visit with family (they are getting a bit old now) so that has to be the priority.

Anyone else for a meet at the CWH?

The Tiger Boys fly in is a great setting in which to see plenty of classics and primary trainers for the most part although Harvards have been known to make a visit or two and last year the CWH B=25 made a fly by. Here is a very small sample of some past residents and visitors.

If you choose to visit the fly in and you feel so inclined, drop me a pm as Guelph is my home airfield and I would be happy to serve as your guide as a way to repay you for all the fabulous photos you share with us.

Cheers,

Jeff :spit

Hi , I am one of the Tigerboys pilots.
The Fly-in takes place on the 3rd w/end in Sept ( 17th-18th)
It is a very informal grass roots affair . No ropes no fences and lots of rides :)
Hope you can make it and if you do ask for Cam and we can meet.

Not to mention a great hill to shoot from at the end of the runway.

Some more photos from Guelph so you know what to expect

If you do decide to go to Ottawa the weekend of Sept. 16- 18 is the Wings Over Gatineau Airshow "Warbirds and Wingmen " and EAA fly in at Vintage Wings of Canada. It is held in conjunction with the Battle of Britain flypast on the Sunday.
The Snowbirds, Lancaster from CWH etc will all be there and flying check out www.vintagewings.ca.

Thanks chaps

The Tiger Boys fly in looks good and its pretty close. Which is the better day to go? We will firm up our plans when we get there so if we go we may end up bringing the whole family along for a bit. Even if we dont stay all day it will be nice to meet up with folks.

I will pop a reply on here when we know more.

Anyone for the CWH?

The Tiger Boys is great for the whole family. They will enjoy it. Always lots of flying all day long and if the weather is good you never know what you will see fly in. Both days are good so pick the better weather day.

Let me know when you plan on going to the CWH or Trenton. If I can make it I will.

Have a great time, Nick!

Another one not mentioned so far is the Great War Flying Museum at Brampton, a reasonable drive from Toronto, and a nice day out in a neat area. My experience is from a few years ago now, but the website's here:

And if you feel like driving an hour west of Hamilton I can give you an exclusive tour of the CHAA hangars at Tillsonburg Airport. www.harvards.com

We're usually just open on Tuesdays and Saturdays but I live nearby so any day of the week is fine.
