Insignia Blue shade 47 is FS 35044 according to my color chart, Methuan code is 21HB and ANA is listed as 605

Does anyone have a quality color photo of any USN plane showing Star & Bar insignia with blue surround over Glossy Sea Blue?

By the end of the war, pretty much the standard was to just paint the white star and bar on the Gloss Sea Blue top coat and not mess around with wasting time masking for a circle that was five or six shades different. But, i'm sure someone has and will post a photo of one done with the insignia blue background. Viv la variety

15044 is gloss insignia blue; 15042 is gloss sea blue. The latter looks a bit green to me. This web site compares the colors, although the actual colors may vary on your screen:
