A few more from Thursday & Friday (in no particular semblance of order):

The Stringbag... obviously ridden hard and put away wet

Taigh's Harpoon was a no-show, but the Howard was a more-than-able replacement. Take-offs are definitely a head turner.

Did they excavate the F16 yet & was the nose gear still attached?

I left the grounds at around 4:00 pm. Friday. F-16 had not been moved yet; nosecone removed and NTSB-ish looking folks still poking around.

They had a crane and flatbed working on it but they didn't get it moved yet. As of almost 1am it's still there.

Al's pics are always superb, but I hope everyone appreciates the physical toll this 24/7 lifestyle takes on him. By this point in the week you about have to poke him with a stick to tell if he's still breathing or not. :wink:

CHAPPIE;
Your observation about peoples knobs getting in the picture when something dramatic is happening runs on an inverse set of rules. Having worked a few years as a Staff photog for local airshows, when the promoter asks for 'crowd pictures around the airplanes' as soon as you locate a likely subject and diverse grouping and raise your camera, they all scatter like sheep after a firecracker, and look @ you like you have two heads when you ask them to please get in the picture, then they become self conscious and keep looking over their shoulder @ you with that paranoid look in their eyes.

Then, when you want to shoot clean stuff for yourself, every time you raise your camera, here comes grandpa towing 17 kids of various sizes who all gather in front of (and spread out like cops @ a strike line) what you want a picture of, grandpa is usually wearing a 31 gallon, very tall hat with a 3 foot brim, tipped back on his head and they all stand around until after sunset while gramps tries toi figure out 'zaktly whut model of Mushybushy 109 or is it 190? this is' and then goes into a long, rambling 'war story' about when he wuz in th' Army and had to stand in long lines for chow while stationed @ Ft. Fuggawe in the battle of Iowa. If you move so do they, when you ask politely if you could get a clean picture, they look @ you like you were speaking Erdu.

I quit doing shows after one promoter didn't want any airplanes directly in the crowd photos, and we were not granted free ramp access passes, just 'from behind' behind the crowd barracades crowd shots. The five of us tried mightily for a couple hours and talked it over, then just held our cameras @ waist level and shot hundreds of photos of peoples fannies, turned in out film and never went back for the balance of the weekend, oh, yeah, the attraction airplane was a BA CONCORDE.
