Well, 20 minutes is certainly a HUGE amount of time. It's not like they could start the show 10 minutes early and run 10 minutes longer or anything...

Anybody point this out to the people running the show?

Not if the FAA waiver is from X-time to Y-time, you can't. If you have a show line-up that is booked for the entire block of time, the man in the suit and glasses will just smile and shake his head 'no' if you decide you want to go 10 minutes early or 10 minutes late.

I don't know the specifics of WOH, but I know from the show's I've worked on in the past it's not as easy as 'starting 10 minutes early'.

So if it's all still in the planning stages, how hard is it to change the waiver time?

The finale act for this year's show are the Snowbirds, if they're anything like the Blues or TBirds they have a hard start time when they own the airspace within the waiver time. So there are very real, time constraints.

But yet the Apaches are "pending" again, they could do the Vietnam act to start the show! And the Snowbirds do usually get off the ground on time.

Unfortunately Nathan, it's a done deal this year. The Viet Nam segment does require resources to make it happen. I suspect those resources have been reallocated. In any event it wouldn't involve the CF jets.

Along with the signing the online petition, go to the WOH Facebook page and let them know that you are unhappy with the decision. I feel that there are folks within who would support the Viet Nam segment in a stronger manner if they had hard evidence that they could show to the WOH board. If you do this, please keep it civil.

I've heard rumors that there may be some changes on the committee next year. Let's hope they get new members who can turn this show back around to what it once was before it drops over the edge and goes away!

I have been trying for the last couple of nights, to publish on this thread, but a software glitch has impeded it.

My information was then, incorrect. How I wish it were true! The Brazilians put up a superb display.

I sure hope that the powers that be at the WOH committee, will see the light...

Saludos,

Tulio

What a shame they canned the Nam era part of the show.I will shock everyone and reserve judgement on the show promoters at this time.

Hi Rick...as we spoke out at Ellington I would support trying to bring back the SEA segment...perhaps some local Houston vet/business folks can help subsize its return to the agenda...

The local WB affiliate in Houston, Channel 39 did a piece on the Viet Nam segment cancellation at Wings Over Houston. It ran last night. Here is a link to the video.
