25 June 2011: A Nanchang CJ-6, N8181C, was damaged while stored securely in its hangar at Falcon Field, Mesa, Arizona, USA, after a young driver lost control of his uncle's Maserati sports car while driving it at high speed, unsupervised, on a taxiway late at night. The car skidded into the hangar, nearly demolishing the front of the building and doing extensive damage to the recently-restored airplane.

News report and photo are here.

Yeesh. Your plane is stored safely in its hangar for the night, at a secure, fenced airport, and it's STILL not safe from morons. :(

Mind boggling that they didn't throw the guy in jail. How does one wreak that much havok and merely walk away from the police with an offhand mention of investigation?

No picture, but curiously enough, the article does have an animated ad for a personal injury lawyer using a car crash :?

Why doesn't the Dept of Homeland Security throw the punk in jail?
Lord knows if a GA pilot parks in the wrong place he's treated like Osama...

He probably was polite and not drunk. Think on from there.

He was driving his father's Maserati. I think money might just have been involved.

If the articles posted from the "press" are in fact true, haven't checked the FAA website for corroboration, the kid may be a chip off the old block. None the less, the little plick needs to be held accountable. Oh yeah, forgot, I am a grouchy old fart sometimes.
