Any news on this baby?

Also as an aside there was recent mention of a change in Alaskan policies towards wreck sites on a recent thread. Yes i know Watson lake is in Canada just wondering if the Alaskan deal is for real.

I was the one who posted it. In talking with the Alaska Aviation Heritage Center in Anchorage, they say that all it takes is for you to file the appropriate paper work and fee to recover a wreck. Processing time is about 6 months.

Thanks Lance! I'm surprised this hasn't been discussed here in some detail. What gives? After all it is a huge change of a policy in place for many years. Is everyone staying quiet because they are beating feet to Alaska for the wrecks?

Anyone know of anyone going after anything........even if you can't say what it is?

The Director of the Museum asked me point blank if there was anything I wanted to go after or were interested in. HE is helping the Ohio B-17 folks recover a B-17 in July. People just aren't aware of the change -- I think. Maybe they're keeping it under wraps.

The answer to his question is simple- B-24s!!! B-24s and more B-24s!!! Granted there are other things up there, but we need more B-24s!!! YAF, are you listening?

Surely there is a Willow Run-built B-24 up there somewhere...

I dont know if they grow on trees,but if we dont recover them soon,they will become potting soil

here's one for YAF - its Not in Alaska, but B-24's dont grow on trees anywhere -

Yeah, I know they don't grow on trees, it was a joke, but there does seem to be a lot of airframes (Not just B-24's) up there.

I think this news is very good. I can't wait to see what comes of it.

Stangely enough this case has just closed. Not exactly the ending I had hoped for. I hope it doesn't disappear into a container like the Labrador B-24 never to be seen again. I just don't get it.
